La Musique!

As part of a questionnaire I'm filling out:

17: If you woke up and discovered that you had turned into Miley Cyrus for the day, what would you do?
MON DIEU QU’EST-CE QUE TU PENSES QUE JE FERAIS?

J'adore Miley Cyrus!

I became familiar with Miley when I was eight years old. I saw her show and I loved it. After that, I began to listen to her songs. I didn't understand them, but they helped me learn English!

The Americans obviously don't like Miley, but whatever. Let them.

The main reason for my obsession with Miley songs stems from the fact that I can relate some songs to my life. For example, "I Hope You Find It" reminds me of coming here and although my friends didn't want me to, they wished me the best. "Butterfly Fly Away" almost has the same meaning. I needed to leave, explore the world, and pursue my dreams. I tend to favor her slower, more acoustic-sounding songs, but her pop songs are cool, too. They remind me of the French pop I listen to.

Aside from Miley, I love French pop. I'm obsessed with Alizee, Yelle, and Marie-Mai. Even if you don't know French, you can still enjoy their songs; they are fun and upbeat. You can listen to some of my favorite songs on the iPod on my blog.

I felt compelled to do this post on my favorite songs. Music is such an inspiration to me. Whenever I feel sad, I listen to my iPod and my world seems at peace.

Please. Let me know what your overall opinion of music is and tell me what kind of music you like.

Le favoritisme.

Le favoritisme- je déteste ce mot! Personne ne comprend que c'est injuste!
Favoritism- I hate that word! Nobody understands that it's unfair!
To say the least, I am a victim of a game of favoritism...

The favorite is Jess McConnell. All of the teachers love her...so do all the other girls. She is sweet to them, which I believe is a guise, but she treats me like complete and absolute crap. She is very, very smart and very open-minded. She loves traveling and school. Sounds like someone? Right...moi! (Jess and I aren't being challenged at school, which is the price we pay for lousy American education.) Anyway, those were her positive traits; she is also a suck-up, bragger, and huge know-it-all. Considering the fact that I was educated in France until late December 2008, I probably am smarter and do know more than her, but I would never ever EVER brag. Bragging is annoying, plus, nobody wants to hear it.
I will give her credit; she probably has visited more countries than me.

The drama started today, when Jess was elected (actually, chosen, as in the teacher chose people) as FRENCH CLUB PRESIDENT of the newly formed French Club. (MON DIEU! JE SAIS!) I'M NOT EVEN VICE PRESIDENT OR ANYTHING! You would think that le prof would want an ACTUAL FRENCH PERSON *waves* as French Club president, but I guess it doesn't work that way in America. For starters, Jess can't speak French with much competency. She gets the "r" sound all wrong and she says etra instead of  être! Oh, how frustrating and offensive. She hates when I get all flustered with the "th" or "h" sound so she corrects me, but apparently, I'm not allowed to correct her French! Since she is like Miss World Traveler or something, she should appreciate my help instead of loathe it!
Anyway, I couldn't hold back my tears so I ran down the stairs...
...and Jess chased after me! She started screaming all this nonsense in very rapid English that I could not pick up. I did, however, understand this: "You're just jealous!"
I immediately turned around.
Jealous. No, ma chérie. I dislike being called jealous when I am anything but jealous. I'm tired. Tired of being ignored and treated like this! I'm just as good as Jess!
She then came down and confronted me. "Sabine, I'm sorry you didn't get your way, but life is not like Burger King." Wow. Making an allusion to an American fast-food favorite. I must admit, that was a good line. High five, Jess!
I immediately walked away and turned to Lilly so I could vent. What are best friends for, right? However, Lilly made it seem like I was the bad girl here; she was sticking up for Jess. She told me that by talking to her about Jess, I was being a backstabber. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think to be a "backstabber" you have to be friends with the person first...and I'm definitely not friends with Jess.

"Why don't you try again next year? It's ridiculous to waste your time worrying and obsessing over Jess! Come on, Sabine. You've done so many things that she hasn't. For example, you got a scholarship to come here. Yeah, Jess probably did, too, but you're not from America. Think of it like this: a school in Japan never requested Jess to go there."
Oui, Lilly IS friends with Jess, but still...she's my best friend and she should be comforting me. I'm not obsessing over Jess and I'm most certainly not jealous of her; I'm upset. Have you ever been in this situation? Have you ever felt like you weren't good enough? Has anyone shown favoritism against you before?
I'll keep everyone updated on the situation...

P.S. Check out the pages I added to my blog. They're fun and definitely more happy than this post.

Blogs to check out...

Salut!
This is somewhat of an advertisement, not a post.
Four of the girls at my boarding school got blogs. Actually, Marisol has had one for three years; she just has rarely posted in it. She hopes to start again soon. Nicki and Vicki's story is similar to that of Marisol's; they had blog, but they rarely posted. (More detailed explanation on their blog...)
Malorie decided to get a blog after seeing how much fun I had with mine.
The links are as follows:
Marisol's Blog
Nicki and Vicki's Blog
Malorie's Blog
Have fun checking them out...and remember, they probably won't update as frequently as I do.

P.S. I got a new background. What do you think?

La fête...

Bonjour, mes amis! L'hier soir, je suis allée à la fête des Edwardses. C'était typique Edwards! Il y avait la musique américaine terrible dont je déteste. Chrisssa y était et Marisol pense qu'elle se regardait française aussi!
Mon dieu, mon dieu, mon dieu...
Last night, I went to the Edwards girls' party. It was so typical Edwards; there was terrible American music of which I hate. Chrissa was there and Marisol thought that she actually looked French!
Je ne voulais pas aller, mais Lilly m'a dit que la fête serait amusante. Et pourquoi pas? Je ne faisait pas quelque chose! I didn't really want to go, but Lilly told me that it would be fun. And why not? It wasn't like I was doing anything better.
Avant nous sommes parties, Nicki et Vicki sont entrées ma chambre! Elles ont crié que Lilly et moi, nous devrions bouger. Je ne connais pas ce que elles voulaient mais... Before we left, Nicki and Vicki entered my room! They screamed that we should move. I didn't know what they wanted but...

C'était une galère! It was a mess!
Kailey was waiting at the entrance to the party; I assumed that Alyson hired her or something. Yeah, and she just haaaad to let us know that we weren't invited. We already knew that; we didn't need a personal reminder, merci beaucoup.
Remembering how Nellie got kicked out of the party, I turned to Lilly and told her of my plan: I was going to lie to Kailey and say that I saw Nellie trying to enter through the garage.
Kailey believed me, so when she took off to scream at Nellie, Lilly and I dashed into the party room.
I saw that Nicki and Vicki stole the scooter; it was knocked over, though. I wonder what they did with it. But knowing them, I probably don't want to know. Some things are just better left as a mystery.
"HI, SABS!" Chrissa. Grr. She is so obnoxious. Plus, she obviously hasn't gotten the hint that I don't want to be her friend nor do I want to talk to her. After she screamed and nearly punctured my eardrum, she told me that Marisol thinks she looks French.
Marisol did not look French. I can't stand how Americans think that boots, berets, and short skirts make them look French, because it seriously doesn't. Regardez-moi. I don't dress like that. Neither do the other French people I've seen.
Remember how Ashley chased Lilly and me out of her room? Well, she confronted us about it. She didn't catch our faces, but she saw long red hair and short hair. Fortunately, I was able to lie and say that Chrissa and Sandrine were the boa-knappers. Ashley seemed relieved, as was I, and said that she would talk to them.

What happens next, mes amis, is a mystery...
